Rio Verde TM Yellow Bourbon Brazil

Rainforest Alliance

Ipanema was established in 1969 by two determined and visionary engineers, Luiz Cyrille and Carlos Moacyr, who pioneered coffee growing on the shores of Furnas Lake around the City of Alfenas. Since its inception, the company has aimed at providing a full range of speciality coffees, with consistency and traceability.

Their equisite coffees are sourced from three model farms within the South Minas Gerais region – long regarded as the most traditional coffee growing region in Brazil. Ipanema’s value proposition has been its constant search for improvement in its processing & coffee peparation.

From seed to cup Ipanema can provide full traceability from the care of their nursery; the production; the milling and final shipping of their own coffee thereby guaranteeing consistent quality.

Ipanema figures:

Over 5,500 hectares (13,590 acres) dedicated to coffee Over 1,200 hectares (2,965 acres) set aside for biodiversity preservation Over 1,000,000 seedlings planted annually Selective picking – manual & mechanical harvesting Over 10 social programs encompassing Children & Youth; Education; Social Rehabilitation and Volunteer Work Promotion & Incentive. UTZ Certified since 2002 Rainforest Alliance certified since 2004

Sustainability has always been part of Ipanema’s essence – agricultural practices, integrated crop management, environmental protection & social responsibility all make Ipanema a World Class Coffee Solutions Provider.
